American Fashion Designer Kate Noel Brosnahan began her career in the fashion industry as a writer for Mademoiselle Magazine. While studying Journalism at Arizona State University, she met and fell in love with fellow classmate Andy Spade, brother of famous actor David Spade. After adopting the now famous name of Kate Spade, she and her husband began designing and producing handbags in 1993. Her ideas for handbags first came to her as head editor of accessories for Mademoiselle. While at Mademoiselle, she noted that the industry was short of stylish yet useful handbags. With this in mind she adopted the classical style bucket bag and introduced them with more colorful and chic fabrics. Based in New York, the Kate Spade label has grown to include shoes, cosmetics, elegant perfumes, and sunglasses for the modern woman. The Kate Spade label has achieved international success bringing eccentric and vibrant designs to the world of women’s fashion. Today there are more than 20 Kate Spade boutiques worldwide.
