French fashion designer Christian Dior was born in Granville, France in 1905. Growing up, Christian was artistic and sold fashion sketches outside his family's house. Before his great success, Dior searched for his place in the world in other cosmopolitan cultures besides fashion. In one of his adventures, he opened an art gallery but it failed horribly and had to close soon after. After being hired by a textile merchant, Dior began work in fashion design. This was his true calling. His designs were extremely popular and within a decade Dior established boutiques and houses of couture in over 20 countries. |
